I got a guy friend who sort of needs help in the style department. He doesn't know where to start. Got any tips for him to get him started?

I’d be glad to help, but since I don’t know him or any facts about him, then the best piece of advice I can offer is to buy clothes that fit properly — not too tight, not too loose, but just right.
